Eisner

A university has just released scans of every issue of Preventative Maintenance Quarterly(?!) — an Army mag from the 1950’s–1970’s put together by Will Eisner. Nice looking, but particularly funny because the way Eisner’s always trying to sneak weird stuff past the censors, like the ridiculously lewd image above. (I’m sure he was trying to help the frustrated G.I.’s get off?) A couple more:

UPDATE: The Times’ hipster reporter, Melena Ryzik, has an interview with all the people involved. Apparently the props were made in Matthew Barney’s studio.
