Down Syndrome Dolls

June 2nd, 2008

This has got to be the best thing on the net today; dolls made for children with down syndrome that resemble children with down syndrome. They’ve covered all the ethnic bases and even developed little background stories for them. Now before you get all defensive and like, “This is so wrong!” just remember you’re going to hell for about a billion other reasons, so laugh it up…cause god is a evolutionary invention.

i just drooled on myself from trying to not lose my shit laughing out loud at the workplace

I have a beautiful little girl w/ DS and I am sorry-she certainly doesn’t look like this! Her tongue placement isn’t outside of her mouth (old stereotype) I am sure the intentions are good here but……

I think everyone agrees, the makers of these dolls are off base on a number of different levels. It’s like they’ve tried so hard to be P.C. they’ve ended up with a foot in the mouth, like your racist uncle who tries to complement your black girlfriend’s skin tone….just shut up before you make it worse.

to be fair to the makers each doll can be ordered with an open or closed mouth.
personally i have no problems with the idea of these dolls having downs, if a kid doesnt like it it will get disgarded soon enough! i just think the clothes look awful!

“This is a great doll for that special someone in your life.”

The above is a (the only) review on the dolls. It seems kind of… wrong.

But the idea of the dolls is a good one… the dolls don’t seem to have a lot of effort put into them- especially if you’re paying 50 bucks on one. The clothes should be nicer, they’re baby dolls… give them cute baby doll clothes!

There was a girl who sat in the seat behind me on the bus and she had Downs. She was beautiful, much prettier than these dolls would portray.
