Animals in the city are fascinating. When parrots are released from the captivity of rich city dwellers and shove species of lesser intelligence (pigeons) out of their homes, we get to see something the wild doesn’t deliver. Similarly when Brooklyn raccoons run out of places to “root” they take up business in the graveyards.
The New York Post presents a fascinating and unintentionally humorous article on a case of coon problems in a Brooklyn graveyard. Some of the highlights include:
” … which has led to them running rampant and multiplying like wild, according to a cemetery official.”
Ummm I’m pretty sure they ARE wild. Ahem.
“I got one call from a woman who wanted to know if she could shoot it with a .22,” he said. “I didn’t know what to tell her.”
Clearly, the cemetery official is not the brightest.
“The best thing was when the city took them and euthanized them.”
“Raccoons are running rampant in Green-Wood Cemetery, digging up plot grass and invading the crypts.”
That’s not all they’re invading!
